The best Serbian race car driver Dušan Borković made Serbia proud again winning the first race on the 5th TCR International series weekend for his second win of the season.
Borkovic started from the second position behind Mato Homola. Dusan kept the promise he made after qualifying sessions on Saturday. He strated good and everything went perfect as he passed Homola in the first corner.
It seemed that Borković will win easily but two incidents happened on the track and the safety car was out twice. The race finished after 15 laps instead of 17.
Homola tried to pass Borkovic in lap 11 but Dusan managed to stay in the first place.
The race was over in the 15th lap after Vernay crashed and safety car was out.
Serbian champion started 8th in the second race. Unfortunately he had problems with the car from the start. Despite a great affort Borkovic was not abble to control the car and ran out in lap 7 due to the problem with drive shaft. Luckily the car was not damaged badly.
“I am proud and happy to represent Serbia in the best possible way. There are no words to explain the feeling of hearing the national anthem in Austria as well. I hoped to score new points in race 2 but it was not possible unfortunately. I am happy and looking forward to the next racing weekend in Hungary. I want to thank my team and all the fans”, Borković said after the races.
Dušan Borković scored 29 points in Austria, one less than the champion Stefano Comini. Dusan moved in the overall standings to the 5th position with 82 points.
Next TCR International series weekend is on Hungaroring on the 17th and 18th of June. Borkovic will have 20kg success balast, Comini will cary 30kg and Colciago 10kg.
